Richard Comely, born in Oxford, England in 1950, relocated to Canada as a child in 1953. He is best known as the creator of Captain Canuck, a Canadian superhero comic book series that debuted in 1975. The series gained popularity for its patriotic themes and was one of the first independently published full-color comic books.
Beyond Captain Canuck, Comely has worked on several other titles, including Star Rider and the Peace Machine, Steel Chameleon, Alien Angel, Trumpet, Wabbits, and BrainQuest. His contributions to the comic book industry extend beyond writing and illustration, as he has also been involved in animation and merchandising efforts related to his creations.
