Born in Rio de Janeiro, Morena Baccarin moved with her family to New York as a young girl. She first came to the attention of TV audiences as Inara Serra on the critically acclaimed 2003 TV series Firefly, as well as in its big-screen adaptation, Serenity (2005). Since then, she has starred in the short-lived Heartland, had a recurring role in Stargate SG-1, played the cold, diabolically-manipulative Visitor Queen in the 2009 TV series V, and was nominated for a 2013 Emmy for her portrayal of Jessica Brody on Homeland. She currently plays Dr. Leslie Thompkins on the crime-drama Gotham, based on the characters appearing in DC Comics Batman franchise.
Interestingly, Baccarin has portrayed several other DC characters across mediums, including the voice of Black Canary on Justice League Unlimited, Cheetah on Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Talia al Ghul in Son of Batman (and the upcoming Batman: Bad Blood), and as Harrison Well’s computer, Gideon on the live-action The Flash.
In film she most recently appeared alongside Melissa McCarthy, Rose Byrne and Jude Law in Spy (2015), and with Ryan Reynolds in the Fox blockbuster, Deadpool (2016).
