Biography

Elijah Wood is an American actor, film producer, and DJ, best known for portraying Frodo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy (2001-2003).

Making his film debut at age 8 in Back to the Future Part II (1989), Wood went on to achieve recognition in an array of films including Barry Levinson’s Avalon (1990), Forever Young (1992) starring Mel Gibson, The Good Son (1993) with co-star Macauley Culkin, and Ang Lee’s The Ice Storm (1997). Following the success of Lord of the Rings, Wood took on numerous wide-ranging roles including Patrick in Michel Gondry’s Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004), Kevin in Sin City (2005), and “le garçon” in Paris, je t'aime(2006). Additional eclectic choices include several voice roles, including playing Mumble in the Happy Feet films, Spyro in the video game The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night (2007), the titular character in 9 (2009), Ben in the TV series TRON: Uprising and Jace Rucklin in Star Wars Resistance.

His penchant for horror films has led him to produce several features including A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (2014), The Boy (2015) and Mandy (2018). Wood also starred in two recent television series including Wilbur and Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency.

As if his endeavours into television and cinema were not enough, Wood has ventured into the music landscape. In 2005, he formed the music label Simian Records which signed The Apples in Stereo. A well-known DJ, Wood teamed up with Zach Cowie, DJing various events under the name Wooden Wisdom and touring throughout North America and Europe.
