Chuck Norris is an internationally known martial artist, actor, philanthropist and author. He has appeared in several motion pictures such as the Bruce Lee starrer The Way of the Dragon (1976), Missing in Action (1984), Code of Silence (1985), and The Delta Force (1986). For eight seasons, he starred as the titular character in the highly successful 1993 CBS series Walker, Texas Ranger, which has been seen in more than 80 countries worldwide. Most recently, he appeared alongside fellow action film mega-stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Liam Hemsworth, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis, and Arnold Schwarzenegger, in The Expendables 2 (2012).
Norris first made his mark as a renowned teacher of martial arts and was a six-time undefeated World Professional Middle Weight Karate Champion. He is the first man from the Western Hemisphere in the over-4500-year tradition of Tae Kwon Do to be awarded an eight-degree Black Belt Grand Master ranking. By the 1970’s, he had revolutionized Martial Arts in the U.S. and created his own system called, “The Chuck Norris System" and is the Founder and Chairman of the United Fighting Arts Federation.
A genuine internet phenomenon, Norris has become the subject of countless Paul Bunyan-type fictional “facts” of his exploits, submitted by fans. There are currently more than a million such “facts”, floating around the internet, often taking the shape of memes. In November of 2009, he came out with The Official Chuck Norris Fact Book, focusing on 101 of his favorite facts and stories.
Norris will say that, next to his family, his most rewarding accomplishment is the creation in 1992 of his KICKSTART KIDS Foundation. The foundation uses karate to teach character building values to students in public schools, giving young people the tools and support needed to resist negative peer pressure, avoid self-destructive behaviors, and make responsible decisions.Chuck Norris is also a New York Times bestselling author of several books.
