Adrienne Barbeau is an American actress best known for her performances in several genre films, including The Fog (1980), Escape From New York (1981), Creepshow (1982) and Swamp Thing (1982).
She began her career in musical comedy revue and earned a Tony nomination and a Theatre World Award for her creation of Rizzo in the original Broadway production of Grease.
Barbeau has a Golden Globe nomination and over 450 screen performances to her credit. She starred as Ruthie, the Snake Dancer, on HBO’s fascinating series, Carnivale. Many fans will recall her role as Carol Traynor on the sitcom Maude, in which she played daughter to Bea Arthur’s title character.
Off camera, Barbeau is the voice of Catwoman in Batman: The Animated Series, Ms. Simone in Scooby-Do on Zombie Island (1998) and Scooter’s Mom in the 3-D animated film Fly Me to The Moon (2008). She can be heard in a myriad of video games: God of War and Halo 4 among them.
Adrienne Barbeau is the author of four books: the best-selling memoir There Are Worse Things I Could Do; the comedic thriller Vampyres of Hollywood and its comedy romance sequel, Love Bites.; the third novel in the series, Make Me Dead, was published in April 2017. The screenplay of Love Bites, which she co-wrote, should be coming to the big screen in 2017.
Her recent films include the Academy Award winning Argo (2012), Tales of Halloween (2015), Divine Access (2015), and the soon to be released Death House, In Extremis, and The Hoax.
