Nathan Fillion is best known for playing Captain Malcolm Reynolds in Firefly and Serenity and Richard Castle on Castle.

In 2002, he was cast as Captain Malcolm Reynolds in Joss Whedon’s Firefly. The show was cancelled after one season, but to this day, Nathan still considers it the best job he ever had. He reprised his role for the 2005 Serenity movie. In 2003, he played Caleb in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In 2008, during the Hollywood writer’s strike, Fillion played Captain Hammer, alongside Neil Patrick Harris and Felicia Day in Whedon’s web series, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along-Blog. He has made several guest appearances on a wide variety of shows including Desperate Housewives, Lost, The Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, and, most recently, on the Netflix series Santa Clarita Diet. In 2009, Fillion landed the title role of Richard Castle in the ABC Crime Drama Castle, which ended with its eighth and final season in 2016.
On the big screen, he’s taken on diverse roles in movies like Saving Private Ryan (1998), Slither (2006), Super (2010), Much Ado About Nothing (2012) and Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters (2013). He will return to the big screen as Simon Williams in this year’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
Fillion is an accomplished voice actor, playing Gunnery Sergeant Edward Buck in Halo and Hal Jordan/Green Lantern in the Justice League animated films between 2011 and 2015. In Cars 3 (2017), he is the voice of a rich business car named Sterling.
In 2015, he starred alongside his Firefly alum Alan Tudyk, in Con Man, a web series that follows the adventures of actors who tour the convention circuit. The series was crowdfunded and broke records, raising over 1 million dollars in 24 hours.
Nathan is involved in several charities. He has raised money for Charity: Water, Operation Smile and created a t-shirt that was sold to raise money for Kusewera, a charity that supports and empowers children living in impoverished nations.
*Fun fact: Nathan is a huge fan of The Walking Dead and has viewing parties with his friends. During these parties, he tried to figure which friends have which skills that would help them survive a Zombie Apocalypse.
